Employees’ use of online communication sites and its reflection on work ethics

(A study of the trends of a sample of employees at the University of Nile Valley and Sheikh Abdullah Al-Badri in Sudan)

مستخلص الدراسة:

تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى معرفة مدى إنعكاس استخدام الموظفين لمواقع الاتصال عبر الإنترنت أثناء الدوام الوظيفي وإلى أي مدى ينعكس ذلك سلباً على أخلاقيات العمل، وذلك من وجهة نظر عينة من الموظفين العاملين بجامعتي وادي النيل والشيخ عبد الله البدري بالسودان.

تمثل مجتمع الدراسة في الموظفين العاملين بجامعتي وادي النيل والشيخ عبد الله البدري بالسودان، وأُجريت الدراسة على عينة متاحة من ذلك المجتمع.

استخدمت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي بأُسلوب البحث المسح، مع استخدام أداة الاستبيان لجمع بيانات الدراسة. توصلت الدراسة لعدد من النتائج من أهمها: أن عينة الدراسة تستخدم مواقع التواصل على الإنترنت أثناء الدوام الوظيفي، وأنهم يتواصلون عبر مواقع تواصل متعددة على الإنترنت، وأن ذلك يمثل انتهاكاً للعديد من قيم العمل مثل: عدم إنجاز الأعمال في وقتها المحدد، وتعطيل الخدمات الخاصة بالجمهور المتعامل مع المؤسسة، وغيرها.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the extent to which employees use Internet communication sites during their working hours, and to what extent this reflects negatively on work ethics, from the point of view of a sample of employees working at the University of the Nile Valley and Sheikh Abdullah Al-Badri in Sudan.The study population was represented in the employees working at the University of Nile Valley and Sheikh Abdullah Al-Badri in Sudan, and the study was conducted on a sample available from that community.

The study used the descriptive approach using a survey research method, with the use of a questionnaire tool to collect the study data. The study reached a number of results, the most important of which are: The study sample uses online communication sites during working hours, and that they communicate through multiple communication sites over the Internet, and that this is a violation of many work values, such as: failure to complete the work on time, disrupting the services of the public dealing with the institution, and others.
